Boom Times, Busy Times and the Loyalty That Keeps Us Going

If you have lived or worked in Grande Prairie for any length of time, you know our region has seen busy years and slower years. We have been here through both, and after more than 60 years, we have learned that the decisions you make when things are busy can matter just as much as the decisions you make when things slow down.

Right now, we are seeing strong demand across the work we do. Homeowners need service, maintenance, repairs and installations. Businesses need systems installed and maintained. New commercial projects need skilled tradespeople to help build them, and existing facilities need experienced teams to keep them operating.

We want to help get that work done.

The challenge is making sure we grow in a way that allows us to keep doing it well, not just during a busy period, but for years to come.

We Are Building for More Than the Busy Years

LSM has been part of Grande Prairie since 1964. Over that time, we have watched our region grow, change, slow down and grow again.

That history has taught us not to build our team around what we need for the next few months.

When we hire someone, whether they are joining our residential, commercial or another part of our operation, we want to find people who can build careers here. We want apprentices to have experienced people to learn from, journeypersons to have opportunities to grow, and our entire team to know that we are thinking beyond the next project.

When the schedule is full, simply adding people as quickly as possible might seem like the obvious answer. We believe the better answer is finding the right people and growing at a sustainable rate.

Our Customers Are Counting on Us in Different Ways

The work our teams do across the region can look very different from one day to the next.

For a homeowner, it might mean getting a furnace running when the temperature drops or installing a new system in their home. For a business, it could mean maintaining the systems that keep its building comfortable and operating properly. For a contractor or project team, it can mean having skilled tradespeople there to help construct the mechanical systems that will become part of a new commercial building.

Every one of those customers has a schedule, a budget and people depending on the work getting done.

We understand that responsibility, and we want to have the capacity to say yes to as much of that work as we reasonably can.

Loyalty Matters on Both Sides

We have been fortunate to earn the loyalty of customers throughout Grande Prairie and the surrounding region.

Some families have called us for years. Businesses and contractors have trusted our teams with their buildings and projects. People recommend LSM to others, follow what we are doing and continue to come back when they need us again.

We appreciate that loyalty, and we believe we owe something in return.

Being loyal to our customers means doing everything we reasonably can to meet their needs while protecting the quality of the work they expect from us.

Being loyal to our employees means not treating people as temporary solutions to a busy market. We want to hire people we can invest in and keep working alongside for the long term.

Being loyal to our community means continuing to build the skilled workforce needed to service the homes and businesses that are already here while also helping build what comes next.

Balancing those responsibilities is not always easy, but all three matter.

We Know Waiting Can Be Frustrating

When your furnace needs attention, your business has work that needs to be completed or your project has a schedule to meet, being told that everyone is busy does not solve your problem.

We know that.

Our teams are working hard to get to as much of the work as possible, and we are continuing to look for the right people to join them.

What we do not want to do is rush that process simply to add another name to the schedule.

The people we hire become the people working in your homes, businesses and project sites. Their skills, training, safety and quality of work matter to us, and we know they matter to you too.

Growing With Grande Prairie Means Thinking Long Term

There is something exciting about seeing our region busy and watching new projects take shape.

Our teams get to be part of that in many different ways. We help families take care of their homes. We help businesses maintain the buildings they rely on. Our commercial teams work alongside others in the construction industry to help turn plans into functioning buildings and spaces that will serve this region for years.

We want to continue being part of that growth.

We also want to make sure the decisions we make today leave us with a strong team ready to serve the community tomorrow.

That means recruiting carefully, training people well, supporting apprentices as they learn their trades and giving experienced tradespeople reasons to build long-term careers here.

Thank You for Sticking With Us

If you are waiting for us to get to your home, thank you for your patience.

If you are a business that continues to trust our team, thank you.

If you are a contractor or project partner working with us to keep a project moving, thank you.

If you have recommended LSM, followed our work or supported us over the years, thank you.

We are working to grow our capacity because we want to help meet the needs of a busy and growing region. At the same time, we are committed to doing that responsibly so we can continue supporting our customers, our employees and our community for the long term.

After more than 60 years in Grande Prairie, we have learned that loyalty really is a two-way street.

We appreciate yours, and we are working hard to return it.
